三影堂四川救援行动5月25日举行
2008年5月25日下午，四川汶川地震发生的第二个周日，三影堂摄影艺术中心举行了由数百名艺术家、捐赠者、志愿工作者和来宾参加的救援聚会。与会者纷纷在现场点燃蜡烛，为逝者祈愿，为生还者祝福，并在留言簿上留下心声。著名民谣艺人赵牧阳以三弦表演的形式寄托了对灾区同胞的哀思和美好的愿望。筹款活动参加者踊跃，现场举办的特殊的无声拍卖会在两小时内拍出了韩磊、刘香成、熊文韵、Les KiKi (Yuki Onodera + Aki Lumi)、王秉龙、周铁海、陈秋林、高波、阿斗、蔡卫东、卢彦鹏、韩冰、张佰钧、孙红宾、何岸、饶凌华等艺术家的作品以及三影堂制作中心摄影课程等其他物品，总计拍得 人民币246,264元。现场亦募得直接捐助86,618.5元，书籍等物品义卖活动筹得30,360元。活动总计募得善款363,242.5元。目前已收款项348,743元已全部交由中国红十字基金会用于四川震灾救援。活动后部分物品义卖仍在三影堂咖啡厅和展示区继续进行。
三影堂摄影艺术中心发起的此次救援行动得到了来自艺术界、创意人士、社区和普通市民的热烈响应。来自著名艺术家、作家、音乐家、评论家，甚至旅行社、餐厅等服务机构的捐赠品数以百计，源源不断地聚集在一起。活动工作人员和参与者对此次活动能为灾区民众度过难关、重建家园而带来实实在在的帮助而感到真切的高兴。同样重要的是，每一位参与者都在此次活动中互相激励，感受团结，获得了新的力量！Three Shadows Sichuan Earthquake Benefit
May 25, 2008Two weeks after the earthquake struck Sichuan Province, the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre gathered over three hundred artists, donors, volunteers, and friends for a charity benefit. Guests lit candles in memory of the deceased and left prayers for survivors in the guestbook, while the renowned folk musician Zhao Muyang expressed his sympathy with a performance of heartrending San Xian music. In the two hour live, silent auction, works by artists Han Lei, Liu Heungshing, Xiong Wenyun, Les Kiki (Yuki Onodera + Aki Lumi), Wang Binglong, Zhou Tiehai, Chen Qiulin, Gao Bo, Adou, Cai Weidong, Lu Yanpeng, Han Bing, Zhang Baijun, Sun Hongbin, He An, and Rao Linghua, as well as photography classes by the Three Shadows Production Centre were auctioned off. The total amount collected through the silent auction was RMB246,264. The amount collected in donation was RMB 86,618.5 and charity sales of books and other services collected RMB30,360. The total amount donated was RMB 363,242.5. We have currently received RMB 348,743, all of which has been donated to the China Red Cross’ fund for Sichuan Earthquake Disaster Relief. A charity sale for the fund continues today in the Three Shadows cafe and exhibition area.
Over the past ten days, the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre has experienced an international outpouring of support, both from within and outside the artistic arena. Famous artists, writers, musicians, critics, restaurants, and even travel companies donated over 100 items for the benefit. Through this event, participants have gathered together in amazing, united effort to help earthquake survivors overcome their hardships and rebuild their homes. Three Shadows would like to thank all who were involved!

三影堂摄影艺术中心为四川地震灾区民众救援筹款行动
2008年5月12 日，四川汶川发生8级强烈地震，数万人被震灾夺去生命。灾难波及范围之广，损失之严重，无不令人震惊和心痛！为了帮助受灾民众度过难关，重建家园，也为了团结周围的朋友为救援活动尽一份力，三影堂摄影艺术中心即日起将联合各方力量，行动起来，为受灾民众举办筹款活动。此次活动将以捐款、义卖和无声拍卖的形式在三影堂第四展厅进行。三影堂摄影艺术中心将于5月25日举办特别筹款聚会，并无偿提供摄影作品、签名出版物、摄影课程等参加义卖和无声拍卖会，同时设立捐款箱募集善款。三影堂号召广大艺术家和创意人士捐赠作品和有意义的物品参加此次活动。筹得所有款项将交由中国红十字总会转交给受灾地区的民众。

Three Shadows Sichuan Earthquake Benefit
On May 12th 2008, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck China’s Sichuan province. With over 20,000 victims, the scope and scale of this tragedy has shocked people all over the world. In response, Three Shadows is bringing together friends and family for a united effort benefiting the earthquake victims. A fundraiser, including charity sale and silent auction, will take place in Three Shadows’ fourth exhibition hall, concluding with a special Sichuan Earthquake Benefit on Sunday, May 25th. In addition to a donation box for collections, Three Shadows has called upon its widespread network of artists and creative individuals for artwork, signed publications, and special classes to donate to the charity sale and silent auction. All profits from the event will be given to the China Red Cross for earthquake disaster relief.
When one person is in trouble, many people can help. Three Shadows hopes you’ll get involved!
The Three Shadows Fundraiser is accepting donations for the charity sale and silent auction immediately. Any items – artworks, books, gift certificates, etc. – are welcome. Beginning on May 21st, Three Shadows will exhibit the donated items in the exhibition hall. Items will be collected through May 25th, the day of the Sichuan Earthquake Benefit. Please contact Three Shadows to coordinate donations.

RongRong&inri have been working together since 2000. Their past critically acclaimed works, In Nature (2000) and In Fujisan, Japan (2001), focus on the beauty of ruins, nature, and man. In June 2007, they established the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, the first art space founded by artists and solely dedicated to photography and video arts in China. They currently live and work in Beijing.

It is a secret that is only known by the skin.

Huang Lei （China, b. 1972）started taking photographs in the zoo in 1995, capturing the animal’s simulated habitats. His black and white photographs are painstakingly hand painted to imitate natural color. The resulting surrealist photographs ponder the idea of self-deceit—by dying his black and white photographs, and shooting an artificial natural world, Huang Lei questions with dream-like colors what is natural and artificial, human and non-human, reality and fantasy.
黄磊生于1972年，现在青岛工作与生活1995年黄磊在动物园开始拍摄照片，捕捉动物的模拟栖息地。他的黑白照片都是精心手绘的颜色以模仿自然。这些超现实的照片及他对黑白照片的着色，拍摄的人造自然世界都在思考自我欺骗的问题。黄磊以梦幻的色彩提出自然与人造，人类与非人类，现实与幻想的问题。

It seems that images that are too perfect are quickly extinguished in people’s minds. – Qiu Qiu’s images waver between dreams and reality. Each scene is part of greater narrative in which the emotions are barely hidden under the smooth surface of the image. In the visual language of his photography, Qiu seeks to come to an understanding with the inevitability of life and death, capturing personal visions of the world that would otherwise be extinguished.Qiu was born in Pingyuan, Guangdong Province and graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Guangdong Institute of Education. He currently lives and works in Guangzhou.

Xiong Wenyun (China, b. 1953) found the inspiration for her work “Moving Rainbow” as she passed by the humble houses sprinkled along the highways of the Sichuan-Tibetan Highway. She incorporates the colors of Tibetan prayer flags into their structures, creating striking compositions whose simple beauty is endowed with a message of environmental activism. For this event, she has donated a group of photographs taken in 1999 in Wenchuan, the earthquake epicenter.
熊文韵1953年生于重庆，现生活和工作于北京。熊文韵在当代艺术领域独辟蹊径，作品跨越多种形式并自成体系。她将西藏人民用于祈福的经幡上的色彩用于路边的建筑，创造了十分醒目的构成形式。这种单纯的美被赋予了环境保护的信息。本次活动她捐赠了一组1999年拍摄于四川汶川（此次震灾中心）布瓦山羌寨的珍贵摄影。

b. 1967Currently lives and works in Beijing I believe that my photography is literary; I am attempting to write an entire period’s memory. --Han Lei Han Lei has been documenting urban life in China since the 1980s. Like Zhang Haier, his photographs insert a sense of authorship and intent into the documentation. He presents a distinctly individual perspective on reality. A man facing off with a canine, a parade of clowns through town, a father burdened by two bundled babies – the dramatic black and white images of the Railway and People series are full of the absurd, the satirical, and the sympathetic. “There’s a monotonous story inscribed on everyone’s face,” notes Han Lei, “I know that this constitutes the whole foundation of my imagery.” Often compared to the work of Robert Frank, the resulting photographs are a striking personal commentary on modern society. Lu Yanpeng approaches photography much like a painter to a blank canvas or director to an empty stage. In the darkness of the night, he skillfully manipulates elements of light to highlight masked actors and carefully composed settings. Long exposure photographs allow him to accumulate passages of time, so that each image seems to be a scene from an open-air performance. Lu Yanpeng’s images are closely tied to his poetry, which echo themes of light and darkness. Lu Yuanpeng was born in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province and graduated from the Art Institute of Fujian Normal University. He currently lives and works in Beijing.
